Tigers anoited as preseason ACC favorites

Posted July 21, 2008

It was no surprise at all that Clemson was named the 2008 ACC favorite at Monday's ACC Kickoff. 51 of 65 votes picked Clemson to beat Virginia Tech in the ACC title game, while 59 of 65 expect the Tigers to win the Atlantic Division at last in Tommy Bowden's 10th season.

The Tigers were followed by Wake Forest (6 votes), Florida State (1), Boston College, Maryland and N.C. State. Virginia Tech led Coastal Division voting with 58 votes, followed by North Carolina (4), Miami (1), Georgia Tech (1), Virginia (1) and Duke.

We'll find out ACC Preseason Player of the Year voting tomorrow. I'll also have some tid-bits I couldn't fit in today's notebook. What do you think about the hype? Are the Tigers worthy?
