Team meeting and other notes...
Posted October 13, 2008
A couple of quick notes before a 5:15 press conference in which Tommy Bowden and Terry Don Phillips are expected to talk about the end of Bowden's Clemson tenure. Doesn't sound like Bowden will take any questions today.
Word is that there will be a 7 p.m. press conference with interim coach Dabo Swinney, who has already made the first move on his coaching staff, apparently handing OC Rob Spence his walking papers.
Reporters from the Charleston Post and Courier and Tigersillustrated.com saw Spence leaving with a bunch of his belongings earlier this afternoon, hugging secretaries and telling them he'd be back for the rest later.
Don't know what this means for play-callling (Swinney has never been an offensive coordinator before), but we'll find out.
Clemson is in a team meeting discussing the change right now. Bowden is in the building - he scurried into his office while most of us were in front of the McFadden Building waiting to talk with players.
