Anderson and Photonics

Anderson, Working to Become the Photonics Capital of the World

During the week of January 20th, I will be working with a group comprised of the Upstate Alliance and Clemson University to market and recruit companies from the SPIE Photonics West show in CA.

You might be asking, “why are we spending time trying to recruit companies making “optical” fibers? How are we connected?”

From the work done at the atomic and molecular level at the most advanced university electron microscopy lab in the country run by Dr. JoAn Hudson, to the expansive commercial applications from optical fiber research led by Dr. John Ballato- Anderson has a lot to tell the experts in this field.

Our purpose for attending is to showcase our capabilities in working with optical fibers and the entire photonics industry.

The Photonics West trade show is the photonics industry Super Bowl. For products, talent, instruction, and expertise- Photonics West is the big time.

As companies look to grow, partner, and expand in the field of Photonics, our goal is to showcase Anderson as the next “silicon valley” for optical fibers. With a 110,000+ square foot laboratory focused on advanced materials research- we are well on our way.

From military applications to medical devices, optical fibers have made products better across many industries.

We want to demonstrate that in the middle of Charlotte and Atlanta is the pulse of their industry for research and development and that we can be home to their next facility.

Anderson has many talents, and working in photonics is just one.
