Obama has roundly criticized McCain for being just another "Washington insider" the country does not need. So, what does he do?
He asks just another "Washington insider" the country does not need to be his V.P.
"Change we can believe in."
Yeah, right.
Sarah Palin embodies everything the Obama campaign secretly wishes Hillary was. She is a strong woman, without a stitch of Washington experience, or a tinge of the cynicism found in so many career politicians. The Governor of the most environmentally-aware state in the Union who manages to balance the demands of her career with Motherhood. She doesn't have just one child. She and her husband have 5. One of whom has Downs Syndrome.
So, you know, I guess something as tricky as defining "what a human being is" wasn't over her paygrade, either.
She's tough. But not angry.
She's got conviction. Not hubris.
She's stylish. Not a pantsuit in sight.
And she did the one thing Obama probably feared the most on his big "coming out" night at the Democratic National Circus:
Without saying a word, she completely, unequivocally, and irrevocably stole his thunder. And I doubt he'll get it back.
