Take it like a Man

Spiritual Baby Wipes

Posted September 6, 2008

The other night Ella had a little bit of an "accident" in the bathtub.

She "muddied the waters", so to speak.

So, my wife drained the water, cleaned Ella, cleaned the tub, disinfected it, and got on with the business of life.

After laughing about it for a while, the "light bulb" moment hit me like a bolt.

Christ did the same for me.

True to my nature, I muddied the waters.

And, just like Kel did for Ella, He got down there in my filth and cleaned me up.

He was a Man like me, which means that He isn't aloof, detached, or disinterested in my situation. He waded around in it for 33 years.

Matter of fact, He is right here with me. And, His Gospel reminds me that not only is He right here with me, step by step, He is going before the Father on my behalf, uttering things and pleading in such a way that words cannot express.

In short, He's always and forever going to bat for me, as my sympathetic High Priest. I don't need an earthly Priest. I already have a heavenly one.

Why add another layer?

When Ella did what was in her nature to do, I loved her no less. I wasn't suprised she did it.

Well, why then do I think my messes suprise Christ, and cause Him to love me any less?

He isn't suprised. He loves me still. My messes only serve to glorify His love, incredible grace, and eternal forgiveness in my life.

The Gospel is alive, always purifying, always advancing, and never retreating.

How great is that?
