Write-in candidates won the Area 3 and Area 4 seats on the board, according to unofficial results. No one officially filed as a candidate for either seat.
John Sherard, 50, a dental technician from Williamston, ran a write-in campaign for the Area 3 seat vacated by Keith Cole.
Tom Allen is vacating the Area 4 seat.
Election officials must confirm that write-in candidates meet the legal qualifications to hold office before the winning candidates can take the oath of office. Information was not available from election officials this week about whether that confirmation has taken place.
County Board of Education chairman Shawn McGee said Friday that he also is unaware of the names of the two people who won election.
