Others feel his frustration

STORY TOOLS

This is in response to Mr. Ralph Mattison’s statement printed in the Aug. 8 issue of the Independent Mail regarding his nephew’s demise.

I can, along with the community, feel his frustration about the ongoing investigation for his nephew. But to compare the amount of rewards for information for the suspects in this crime to the reward for the suspects in the damage to the Doughboy Statue as discrimination is wrong.

The money offered for the reward on the Doughboy comes from all different people, not only in Anderson, but from around the country. The community was hurt by both crimes and the response was overwhelming.

The local law enforcement agencies are working very hard to find the suspects in both cases.

We of the American Legion Post 14 want to thank the donors to Crime Stoppers for their generous support and to the general public for their moral support.

Richard Williams, Commander, American Legion Post 14, Anderson
