STORY TOOLS

Ebo Elder will be the guest speaker at New Life Worship Center at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 24.

As a professional boxer, Ebo had 22 wins and three defeats, with 16 wins by way of knockout. He won the WBO Intercontinental, IBA and NABO Championships while winning a fight nominated for “Fight of the Year” and “Knockout of the Year” on Showtime. This fight earned him a No. 5 world ranking by the WBA. He also competed on the ESPN reality show, “The Contender Season 2.”

Outside the ring, Ebo has faced many tough battles as well. Seemingly, his toughest fight has been with his wife of more than seven years, Amy. They were childhood friends, high school sweethearts and married three weeks after graduation. An unwillingness to accept the call of Christ in their lives led them to a divorce only two years later. During their divorce, Ebo fell into a pattern of drug and alcohol abuse that took him to a near suicide, but God intervened. Their story of reconciliation and remarriage is a vitally important message. They have been remarried for seven years and have three daughters.

Ebo is now fighting to see people of all ages come to live a life of power and purpose. While spreading the good news to everyone and encouraging followers of Jesus to fight the good fight, his message of new beginnings, second chances, reconciliation and freedom are needed in a world full of deception.

New Life Worship Center is located on S.C. 93 beside Central City Hall. The event is free of charge but a love offering will be taken.
