Factory-built home best option

The recent Dave Ramsey column in the Independent-Mail concerning the long-term value of manufactured homes raises some surprising facts about manufactured homes. If Mr. Ramsey had done his research, he would know that manufactured homes now appreciate under the same circumstances as other homes when the home is well-maintained and placed in a good location.

The person in the column could afford $70,000 for a home. For that money, the buyer can purchase a new, fully-warrantied, three-bedroom, two-bath multiple-section home built to a stringent national building code. Manufactured homes have come a long way from the passé, stereotypical “trailer.”

As the housing market has shown us, no home is a sure-fire investment. The smart homebuyer these days will buy the home that best suits his or her needs. For many folks in South Carolina, that house may well be factory-built.

Manufactured Housing has matured quiet a bit in the past several years. The quality and variety available in manufactured homes had increased ten fold. The Florida Manufactured Housing Association has a great Myth vs.. Facts page on line at http://www.builtstronger.com/myths.html

The new Housing & Economic Recovery Act can benefit manufactured home buyers even more than buyers of conventional home. The tax credit/loan that Uncle Sam is offering is up to seventy five hundred dollars. Because of assembly line building and massive purchasing by factory builders the cost of manufactured homes is considerably less then site built.
