— Local schoolteachers and administrators will serve up fries and drinks at McDonald’s Restaurant in West Union on Sept. 2 as part of McTeacher’s Night.

The one-night event is designed to raise money for the Be PURPLE program at Walhalla Middle School.

“We’re committed to education and supporting the schools in our community,” said Teresa Black of the West Union McDonald’s. “McTeacher’s Night is just one way we can assist educators and help local schools raise funds.”

Walhalla Middle School will receive a portion of the sales proceeds generated between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. During that time, the school principal and teachers will “work” at the McDonald’s restaurant greeting customers, working the registers, serving drinks, and, in some cases, assist with the preparation of food. Families of students and other school supporters are encouraged to visit McDonald’s and enable the educators to serve them while raising money for the school.
