GREENVILLE Two tourism projects have been announced for development in Greenville, and are expected to draw interest from Anderson residents.
The Tourism Leadership Council said it has chosen locations and managers for the GO Experience, to be developed on River Street behind the Peace Center, and for the Blue Wall Centre, which will be located on a 178-acre Camp Spearhead property owned by Naturaland Trust.
The GO Experience will provide a tourist attraction to downtown Greenville visitors, but also the Upstate and surrounding region, according to a statement.
The GO Experience is to include displays of the region’s tourist offerings; live artists, craft workers and performers; simulations of outdoor activities as rock climbing or kayaking; and an Activities Concierge where visitors can plan outdoor adventures along with urban experiences, according to a statement.
The Blue Wall Centre, named for the escarpment that gives the region its visual identity, would offer demonstrations and classes in fishing, climbing and various water sports. The 178-acre facility, planned on the former Camp Spearhead site on S.C. 11, would include retail and dining components along with information on how to access all the recreational opportunities nearby, according to a statement.
TLC is a non-profit organization created to oversee the development of new visitor amenities expected to spawn 1,000 new jobs and $30 million in annual tourism revenue in the Upstate of South Carolina,
