Thank you so much for covering our Independence Day Celebration on July 5, and the excellent article that appeared in the Independent-Mail on Sunday, July 6.
Some say Iva is the forgotten corner of Anderson County and that most publicity has been negative.
The vast majority of the residents of the Iva community are hardworking and patriotic Americans who love their country and their town.
We consider this year’s celebration one of the best ever. This was because of the hard work of nine Legionnaires and their family members, contributions from the town of Iva, Larry Greer and the Anderson County Council, Ron Adams Fireworks, Drennon’s grocery and Smiley’s restaurant. Sylvia McMahan assembled an excellent set of musicians and singers.
The relationship between the Town of Iva and the American Legion is second to none.
All of the town officials are very veteran-friendly and accommodating in any community activity we undertake.
Alvin V. Terry, Commander,
