ANDERSON COUNTY The Anderson County Sheriff's Office has identified a youth they say was operating a motorcycle that fled a store that had been burglarized hours earlier.
Devon Morris, 17, of Three and Twenty Road in Easley is being treated for what has been called a life-threatening injury at Greenville Hospital System. He was listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon, a spokesperson said.
Deputy J.T. Bowers said he was patrolling about 5 a.m. Monday near S.C. 88 and Baugh Road near Pendleton, according to the incident report.
A 2006 Honda motorcycle left the parking lot of Slabtown Grocery at a high rate of speed and Bowers followed using lights and siren in an attempt to stop the motorcycle, the report states. Bowers said the motorcycle's rider lost control and crashed on S.C. 88 at Baugh Road. South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers took over the accident investigation, which is normal procedure, officials said.
