Anderson School District 1 sets another record with EIA grants

WILLIAMSTON — The 2008 Education Improvement Act teacher grant program recently announced that Anderson School District 1 earned a total of nearly $142,000 worth of grants for the 2008-09 school year.

The amount makes it a record-breaking year for Williamston-based District 1, according to district officials.

The grant money is to be used for assisting teachers with classroom instruction by allowing the purchase of technology, materials and supplies, field trips, educational travel that supports instruction or sponsoring professional speakers for assemblies or classroom visits. In order to receive grants, teachers must submit a detailed grant proposal outlining the activities they wish to have financially supported.
