Rescue personnel stand outside the Stop-A-Minit 4 store on West Greer Street in Honea Path following an armed robbery that left one man injured after shots were fired inside the store Tuesday night.

— One person was injured during an armed robbery around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Stop-A-Minit 4 at 405 W. Greer St. in Honea Path.

And an armed robbery that was reported Wednesday night in Sandy Springs bore resemblance to the one in Honea Path, said Susann Griffin of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Honea Path Police Chief David King, shots were fired inside the store during the robbery, injuring one person. The victim was transported by ambulance to AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, he said.

The man is a seminary student at Erskine College, according to Rick Hendrix of the school. The victim could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

Ann Hicks, a clerk at the store, said Wednesday that the man who was shot was on duty at the time of the shooting and suffered no major injuries. She said he was released from the hospital Wednesday morning.

The robbers were described as two black males who wore white shirts and plaid pants and had covered their faces.

Honea Path police and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office were on the scene late into the night looking for evidence.

Officers searched the area with K-9 officers looking for clues. Authorities said they have several pieces of evidence but declined to elaborate, according to a report from Independent-Mail coverage partner WSPA News Channel 7.

Anyone who may have information about the crime is asked to call the Honea Path Police Department at (864) 369-2424 or CrimeStoppers at (864) 231-STOP.

A convenience store on U.S. 76 in Sandy Springs was the scene of an armed robbery to which authorities were alerted at 9:48 p.m. Wednesday, Griffin said.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene at 9:53 p.m. and were told that someone shot at the clerk at the store, Griffin said. Authorities heard the robbery was committed by two black males who walked into the store, so that description matches the one given of those who committed the robbery in Honea Path, Griffin said.

More information about the Sandy Springs case will be available today, she said.
