Let's do lunch at ... DaVinci's

So, we’ve been to sandwich shoppes and meat-and-threes and fine dining restaurants. We’ve even been to hole-in-the-walls. But what about the Italian joint that serves up some classic dishes?

Enter DaVinci’s , one of the newest additions to the Anderson restaurant landscape. Here, the entire menu is available all day long, and the restaurant serves a pizza buffet seven days per week. And located in the middle of Greenville Street near downtown, it is on the way to almost everything on the east side of town.

DaVinci’s is simple for lunch. Going at 12:30 p.m., the place was filled but not packed. A table of one (me) was seated quickly, but since it was a four-top, there was room for a bigger party. The process is simple enough: Sit down, look at the menu, get your drink, order your food. The ambiance is nice, especially if you get seated in the atrium-like area closest to Greenville Street. (I suggest you request it if you can.)

Most people go right for the pizza buffet, but with a menu as expansive as DaVinci’s, it seemed silly not to get something from there. The restaurant has pasta, Parmesan dishes, stromboli and even a burger or two. But for me, this was a time to get a calzone.

I went with the small veggie calzone, and it lived up to its name. Tons of veggies are stuffed in this dough casing, and the marinara is quality. It came out quickly, I got seated, ordered, served and ate by a little after 1 p.m. Perfect for a lunch on the go.

Just one word of advice if you go with the calzone. Don’t get the large. The small was already the size of my face.

DaVinci's is located at 307 E. Greenville St., Anderson; 864.222.8944

Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday
