ANDERSON COUNTY Starting at noon Aug. 1, the Anderson County Voter Registration and Elections Office will begin taking filings for candidates seeking nonpartisan offices in the Nov. 4, General Election.
Positions include Anderson County Board of Education, Homeland Park Water District commissioners, Piedmont Public Service District commissioners, and Watershed Conservation District commissioners.
For the county Board of Education, Seats 2, 7, 8 and 9 are up for grabs.
Anderson County School Trustees have several seats to fill: District 1, Areas 2, 3 and 6; District 2, two seats in Area 2; District 3, Areas 2 and 3; District 4, Areas 1 and 3; and District 5, Areas 1, 2, 3, 7 and at-large seats.
Officials of Districts 1 and 2 have confirmed that all current trustees in those districts plan to seek re-election.
District 4 Area 1 incumbent Tom Dobbins is seeking a South Carolina House of Representatives District 8 seat and will not seek re-election to the school board seat.
Homeland Park Water District commissioners and Piedmont Public Service District commissioners have two seats each to fill.
Watershed Conservation District commissioners for watershed districts Big Creek and Broadmouth Creek, two and three seats respectively, are open.
Watershed Conversation District commissioners for Bush Creek and Three & Twenty, Seats 1 and 2, respectively, will file with the State Elections Commission in Columbia.
There are no filing fees for the offices, according to a statement.
Each candidate at the time of filing must fill out a Statement of Candidacy and Economic Interest Form. The deadline for filing is noon Aug. 15.
