Anderson County voting officials report that voter turnout for the Anderson District 1 school referendum is light so far this morning.
At 10:45 a.m., poll workers had reported no problems. Voter turnout was expected to pickup around lunch, and again around 3 p.m.
Voting will continue through 7 p.m. this evening.
If approved, the referendum would authorize a $85.75 million bond for a new Powdersville High School and facility improvements or additions to other district schools.
For many taxpayers, approval of the referendum would mean less than a $100 increase in their taxes, District 1 officials said.
