ANDERSON Officials at the Anderson Wal-Mart on Liberty Highway made two shoplifting arrests Wednesday when men were caught filling bellies and pockets.
Tommy Riddle, 34, of 1003 Old Denver School Road in Sandy Springs and Wallace Hicks, 19, of 303 Timberlake Road in Anderson each pleaded guilty Thursday in Anderson Municipal Court to unrelated charges of shoplifting.
Riddle was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Riddle was arrested about 6:15 p.m.
Judge Ken Mattison ordered each man to pay a fine of $1,087.50 or spend 30 days in jail. Mattison told Riddle to pay $8.31 in restitution for drinking one bottle out of a four-pack of an alcoholic beverage, and he told Hicks to pay $152.33 in restitution for damage to a camera and a watch, which were both found in his pockets.
Wal-Mart employee Tiffany Mattress testified that Riddle drank the beverage, walked to the cashier, swiped his card and left without entering its four-digit security code.
“He was that drunk,” she said.
Hicks testified that alcohol caused him to put a FUJI display camera and a George watch in his pocket.
“I was intoxicated at the time,” he said. “I don’t know what I was thinking. When I drink, things happen that shouldn’t happen.”

I wonder how forgiving Riddle and Hicks would be if I used alcohol as the reason for sticking my foot up their rears? www.ourtownreport.com
