Thief nets snacks, gifts in Belton trailer theft

— A theft of a $4,000, 14-foot cargo trailer has left Anderson County Sheriff’s deputies looking for a thief with more than $5,200 in merchandise, including 21 cases of meat sticks and some Christmas dolls.

Between 1:30 a.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday, a thief cut the lock to a chain and entered the Auction Barn’s property at 5501 Belton Highway in Belton. The trailer was stolen, along with its contents of Country Boy Meat Sticks, Christmas dolls, Christmas decorations, tools and two generators, according to the incident report.

According to the inventory of stolen items, the meat sticks, valued at $2,100, expire August 6.

The other items have no expiration date. The Christmas items are valued at $1,000. The tools are valued at $1,200. Each generator is valued at $960.
