For the second straight year, Abbeville (6-0, 1-0 Region 1-AA) and Walhalla (3-3, 1-0) will meet in Razorback Nation with first-place on the line early in Skyline region play. Abbeville won 24-7 last year as Walhalla suffered a fumble at Abbeville’s 9 three plays into the fourth quarter. Then Abbeville scored after a Walhalla 12-men on the field penalty gave the Panthers another chance. Walhalla running back Meeshon Thompson, who averaged 4.4 yards per carry entering the Abbeville game last year, is off to another good start.
He has six rushing touchdowns and averages 7.3 yards per rush. So if Walhalla is to pull the upset, Thompson will need more than the four yards he got on six carries last year. As a team, the Hogs only registered 35 yards against the Panthers in ’07.
