Can’t support Bryant

STORY TOOLS

My family and I have given some thought to the letter from the gay man who realizes that Kevin Bryant considers discrimination the most successful accomplishment of his first term in office.

Bryant was able to do this only after totally disregarding that by our law, all men are created equal … with liberty and justice for all. He offers no apology for discrimination and is unable to explain why some families’ rights are protected and some families are deserving of discrimination.

But as a consumer, and voter, the gay father and grandfather have the option to vote for another candidate who is not proud of discrimination and understands the importance of families. Bryant accepts payment from all taxpayers, even the ones he feels justified in discriminating against.

My family and I will not support nor vote for Bryant and will avoid any business that features a Bryant lawn sign. Shop, eat and visit other businesses that want your business, not promite discrimination while taking your money

Steven McCarthy, Anderson

Discrimination? Bryant was one of 82% of the voters in Anderson County that supported the Marriage Amendment. Does that mean that 82% of voters of Anderson County are discriminating against you?

This means that it was one of the most bi-partisan amendments ever. That also means that you will have to boycott just about every business that is in Anderson County.

You are correct in your assumption that Marshall Meadors was one of those 18% of voters that voted against the Marriage Amendement.

That alone puts him way out of touch with the average voter.

By the way, "I love you as a human being."

I only wish I lived in Bryants district so I could vote for him personally. From what I've seen he has done a jam up job.

Discrimination.

Yes yankeefan, Kevin Bryant is practicing discrimination. Here's the Merriam-Webster definition:

1 a: the act of discriminating b: the process by which two stimuli differing in some aspect are responded to differently

2: the quality or power of finely distinguishing

3 a: the act, practice, or an instance of discriminating categorically rather than individually b: prejudiced or prejudicial outlook, action, or treatment <racial discrimination>

If you look at the third and most common definition, you will see that, according to a well respected dictionary that I'm sure we've all used, it would indeed appear that . . .

KEVIN BRYANT IS A BIGOT, AS DEFINED BY THESE DEFINITIONS.

Doubtful?

Read from the same dictionary:

Bigot:
a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices ; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

Hmmm - it does indeed appear to fit. How does one reconcile such behavior? How does one compartmentalize their Christianity to such a degree as to add an addendum to the phrase "love thy neighbor, unless they are homosexual?"

Here is a final word to look up:

Hypocrite:
1 : a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion
2 : a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings

Look the words up yourself here:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/

Think for yourselves. I know I can't vote for a bigot - can you?

Obama's a bigot. Read his books.
