Lowdown: Pickens had trouble with Seneca’s blitz last week, but made halftime adjustments to get the close win. The Bears are rounding into form after inexperience, injuries, and suspensions held them down the last few weeks.

Prediction: Pickens 28, B-HP 21

Abbeville (6-0, 1-0) at Walhalla (3-3, 1-0)

Abbeville: QB Jimmy Thackson was 4-for-4 passing last week for 118 yards and 3 TDs. Walhalla: OT Chris Glenn graded out at 94 percent last week with 3 knockdowns, without allowing a sack or being called for a penalty.

Lowdown: Known for their prowess in running and passing, each team has done the opposite (Abbeville-passing, Walhalla-rushing) in multiple wins. The Razorbacks have 5 players with at least 11 catches.

Prediction: Abbeville 31, Walhalla 21

Emerald (1-5, 0-1) at Crescent (2-4, 0-1)

Emerald: RB Dee Parks averages 5.1 yards per carry, and leads the Vikings in rushing. Crescent: FB Anthony Wykle had 71 rushing yards last week.

Lowdown: Emerald QB Zane Newton returned last week after a Week 1 shoulder injury. Crescent’s lost 3 straight, allowing at least 38 points in each game. Crescent’s scored TDs on special teams the last 2 weeks.

Prediction: Crescent 20, Emerald 14

Daniel (6-0, 1-0) at Seneca (1-5, 0-1)

Daniel: WR Marquez McDowell has 12 catches, but 5 went for TDs. Seneca: RB Chris Robinson has rushed for at least 90 yards in his last 2 starts.

Lowdown: Seneca had 3 first-half sacks last week, but also gave up a safety and INT for a TD. Seneca WR James Hunter should get a test against Daniel’s INT-rich secondary after catching 5 passes for 125 yards last week. Daniel is outgaining opponents by an average of 132 yards per game.

Prediction: Daniel 35, Seneca 21

Ware Shoals (2-4) at Dixie (2-4)

Ware Shoals: RBs Lance Richardson and Demond Hammonds each scored TDs of at least 53 yards last week. Dixie: RBs Demario Washington and Jamaury Norman combined for 219 rushing yards last week.

Lowdown: Fumbles and special teams problems tripped up Dixie last week at Blacksburg, while Ware Shoals beat Calhoun Falls Charter 53-12, scoring 5 TDs in the first 12 minutes. The win snapped a 4-game losing streak. Dixie hasn’t beaten Ware Shoals since 1999.

Prediction: Ware Shoals 31, Dixie 14

Woodruff (4-2, 1-0) at Palmetto (3-3, 0-1)

Woodruff: QB Jake Lambert is closing in on his own single-season school passing record. Palmetto: RB Stacey Mosley averages 125.8 yards and 2 TDs per game.

Lowdown: Woodruff started 1-2, but has won 3 straight since. The Wolverines have scored 49 and 46 points the last 2 weeks against Blacksburg and Southside. The Mustangs average 286 rushing yards per game.

Prediction: Palmetto 28, Woodruff 27

Liberty (2-4, 0-1) at Pendleton (5-1, 1-0)

Radio: 96.3 WGOG

Liberty: RB Ethan Ladd had 16 carries for 102 yards and 2 TDs last week. Pendleton: RBs Tye Burke, Reggie Earle and Morris Williams each have scored 3 TDs and have combined for 1,012 yards.

Lowdown: Liberty rushed for 288 yards and 20 first downs against Walhalla, but lost 2 fumbles. Pendleton is preparing for Liberty’s option game, which has been successful against several opponents. Pendleton won 42-14 last year.

Prediction: Pendleton 30, Liberty 13

T.L. Hanna (1-5) at Easley (0-6)

Hanna: RBs LaDarius Norris and Brandon Williams combined for 96 yards last week. Easley: WR Trevin Franklin has 6 catches for 76 yards and a TD in the last 2 games.

Lowdown: WR Quinton Payton could debut at QB this week, to jumpstart the Hanna offense. The Jackets haven’t scored more than 15 points in one game since Week 1. Hanna hasn’t lost 5 straight since 2000. Hanna won 51-7 last year, its second straight win in the series. Easley is scoring 15 points per game, giving up 40.

Prediction: Hanna 20, Easley 14

West-Oak (4-2, 0-1) at Woodmont (4-2, 0-1)

West-Oak: RBs Brandon Hoover and Adam Holbrooks combined for 92 yards and a TD last week. Woodmont: RBs Johnnie Houston and Shundrez Smoot were limited to a combined 45 yards last week.

Lowdown: After starting 4-0, Woodmont’s trying to stop a losing skid. This outcome could go a long way toward deciding the final playoff spot. Woodmont was held to 67 rushing yards last week on 29 carries.

Prediction: West-Oak 27, Woodmont 21

Greenwood (2-4) at Westside (2-4)

Radio: 1280 WANS

TV: Charter 58

Greenwood: WR/RB D.J. Swearinger is set for his second start at QB this week. Westside: QB Brandon McCann was 14-for-28 for 195 yards and 3 TDs last week.

Lowdown: The Eagles have won 3 of the last 5, including last year 33-0. Swearinger accounted for 149 rushing yards last week and TD runs of 24 and 89 yards. Westside is prepared to exploit Greenwood’s special teams, which is one reason the Eagles have 4 losses.

Prediction: Greenwood 21, Westside 17

Wren (2-4) at Laurens (5-1)

Wren: WRs Chris Perdomo and D.J. Brown have combined for 77 catches for 1,135 yards and 8 TDs. Laurens: WR Travis Burnside averages 96 receiving yards per game.

Lowdown: The Canes were off last week after beating Easley 54-19 in Week 5. Laurens lost to Dorman 42-0. Before last week, Laurens had scored 30 points in 4 of its 5 games. Laurens won 29-14 last year, its third straight win in the series. These are the two highest scoring teams in their region — by 37 points.

Prediction: Laurens 35, Wren 24

Elbert County (2-3, 0-2) at Morgan County (1-4, 1-1)

Elbert: RBs Ronnie Hughes and Valdon Cooper combined for 88 rushing yards last week. Morgan: QB J.D. Hawkins, WR Dominique Hall, Terence Harper make up the Bulldogs’ passing game.

Lowdown: Morgan’s allowed 20 points in 2 region games. Morgan’s win was against Jackson County, 34-6. Elbert’s already played the 2 teams with unbeaten records in region play. Elbert’s trying to snap a 15-game region losing streak.

Prediction: Elbert 28, Morgan 14

Franklin County (3-2, 1-1) at Jackson County (1-3-1, 0-2)

Franklin: LB/RB Matt Jackson had a blocked punt, rushing TD, and INT last week. Jackson:

Lowdown: The Hit Squad defense held Morgan County to one first down last week, and 62 total yards. Franklin QB Dashan Merritt could return after serving a suspension last week. Jackson lost at Hart County last week, 41-0. The Panthers have scored a total of 32 points in the last 4 games.

Prediction: Franklin 35, Jackson 21

Eastside (5-0, 2-0) at Hart County (2-3, 1-1)

Radio: 980 WKLY

Eastside: QB/DB Justin Wray scored an 80-yard TD on defense last week. Hart: FB Josh Carey had TD runs of 11 and 15 yards last week.

Lowdown: The teams haven’t met since a 36-13 Hart win in 2001. Eastside is scoring 30 points per game, and giving up 13. Hart is scoring 20, yielding 17. Eastside used 3 second-half TDs to beat Stephens County last week.

Prediction: Eastside 35, Hart 17

Oconee County (2-3, 2-0) at Stephens County (3-2, 1-1)

Oconee: Pint-sized RB Jamie Stephens rushed for 122 yards on 20 carries last week. Stephens: TE Cody Martin and WR JaQuan Trammell have combined for 14 catches for 261 yards and 2 TDs.

Lowdown: Stephens won 49-28 last year for its third straight win in the series. Oconee’s non-region opponents are a combined 15-1. Stephens’ 2 losses are to teams that are a combined 10-1. Stephens is minus-4 in turnover margin.

Prediction: Stephens 28, Oconee 24
