The victim of a gunshot wound at the Wren Youth Association baseball field along Lake Road in the Powdersville/Piedmont area was released from the hospital on Saturday night.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the possible shooting, said Susann Griffin, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
Sheriff deputies were called to the baseball field around noon on Saturday when a 30-year-old white male reported he had possibly been shot in the hip area. The man was transported to the Greenville Hospital System and treated for injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening before he was released.
Greenville Hospital physicians decided not to remove the bullet from the victim’s posterior, Griffin said on Sunday night. Authorities still believe the incident was accidental but the issue is under investigation.
