Dixie falls hard to Camden Military

STORY TOOLS

Due West- Appollo Pegues ran for 167 yards and one touchdown as Camden Military Academy defeated Dixie 33-19 at Henry C. Oats Stadium Thursday night. Quarterback Matt Repass passed for 89 yards and 3 Touchdowns. Jamaury Norman rushed for 95 yards in the losing effort for the Hornets.

Camden Military scored first as Repass hit David Ford on a 7-yard touchdown pass. Dixie answered as Jamaal Byers intercepted a Repass pass and returned it to the Spartans' 12-yard line. This set up a Mario Washington touchdown run from 9 yards out to tie the score at 7. Camden Military reclaimed the lead as on its next position as Repass hit Jordan Illbrink for a 20 yard score. Dixie responed with a 90 yard drive capped by a Ty Hawthorne 1 yard run. However, the extra point was no good and Camden Military went into halftime with a 14-13 lead.

Both teams exchanged turnovers at the start of the 3rd quarter. With 4:15 to go in the 3rd quarter Pegues scored on a 6 yard run to give Camden Military a 20-13 lead. After a fumble Camden scores quickly as Repass hooks up again with Ford on a brilliant one handed catch for a 8 yd touchdown to help seal the Spartans victory.

Dixie ended the scoring on a 19 yard pass for Jordan Hall to Aaron Freeman. "Camden Military had some very good athletes but we did a poor job of tackling," Dixie coach Brian Gamble said. "For us to improve as a team we are going to have to get better tackling, and taking care of the ball.
