For Columbia’s Alexis Prickett, it was too much déjà vu, as she was defeated by Molly O’Koniewski in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

Rigsby survives heat, fatigue in grueling 18s title match

As their marathon first set wore on, it seemed like a winner would be as likely as a cold front. Rigsby, who barked at himself as he struggled to take control, won the first set 7-6 (5), and then cruised to a 6-0 victory in the clincher of the 18s singles championship for his first title in his final attempt in the Wachovia Palmetto Tennis Championships.

Richmond captures Wachovia 16s

Richmond, a Pawleys Island resident, won his second title in the Wachovia Palmetto Tennis Championships with a 6-3, 6-3 victory in the 16s singles championship against Spartanburg’s Hunter Harrington on Monday morning. Richmond’s strong serve helped him make up for sub-par groundstrokes, he said.
