  • Teufelshunde USMC Motorcycle Club's Kit Sanders, left, applauds Nina Silver with Richard M. Campbell administrator Greg Osborne during the Silver Center Dedication at the home in Anderson.  The Silver Center, named after her late husband Charles Silver, a U.S. Navy veteran who served in Korea, is a carport for the veterans home van.  Money raised for the center came from  several local motorcycle groups who were present.  'Charles would be so proud,' Silver said.

The You Are Not Forgotten campaign, organized by Teufelshunde USMC Motorcycle Club member Kit Sanders, held riding events, fundraisers, and collected money to help pay for the Silver Center at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson. The center, named after the late U.S. Air Force veteran Charles Silver, is a large carport which holds a activity bus for the veterans home. The Anderson County Young Marines presented the colors, and motorcycle clubs Confederate MC, Hardwood Cruisers of Anderson and Donalds, and Hard Knox MC were thanked for their contributions supporting veterans.

The fifth International Fair at Crescent High School included 22 countries, each displayed by groups of students. Each group researched the country, bringing examples of each culture to their booth.

  • More than 33,000 vehicles pass over the Brushy Creek Bridge per day on Interstate 85 southbound in Anderson County near mile marker 37. According to a AAA Carolinas study, the bridge meets 65 percent of federal safety standards for bridges. The South Carolina Department of Transportation maintains the bridge.
  • Warped wood, aged steel, and a layer of asphalt on Simmons Ford Road near Townville make up one of Anderson County's worst bridges.

A 1994 Nissan Altima caught fire at Total Transmission on Market Street Thursday afternoon. Employees of the shop were working on the car while is was on a flat bed truck when the car caught fire. Employees were able to contain the fire with fire extinguisher and get the car out of the garage. Homeland Park Fire Department responded to the call and was able to put the vehicle fire out. No injuries were reported.

Cheddar and West Pelzer firefighters practice interior firefighting at vacant home on Parker Street. The firefighters gained interior firefighting knowledge. Approximately two dozen participated in the training on Saturday. When the practice was complete the house was allowed to burn. The two-story house was more than 50 years old and had been vacant for quite some time. Williamston EMS personnel stood by as firefighters practiced.
