You "just want to hold your son again"? That statement so reviles me it makes me want to vomit.

I'm sure he just wanted to breath again, to play again, to giggle & laugh with his friends again. I'm sure he just wanted to ride his bike again, to go to school again, to play his video games again, to hug his Mommy & brother again. And to open his presents on Christmas morning again.

But you took all that away from him in an act so heinous & painful to him, there will be no justice for Jeremy.

How could you even utter those words "I just want to hold my son again"?? You betrayed him. The man that was supposed to love, protect & take care of him beat him to death. There is no punishment severe enough for you, but I hope you get the maximum the law can give you.

Although the title suggests what the police officer did, the article never explains it. It would have been nice to know exactly what this exceptional officer did!

Wow, these 2 sound suicidal. And, yes, VERY bad title.

Wow, quite a bit of anger/hostility in StupidShouldHurtMore's response there.....

To Ali - I know nothing about Mr. Cunningham, but agree with you that it should have been done via the normal methods for filling government positions.

To those saying people "got what they wanted" with this severance package to Preston - I don't think that's what they wanted.

Hasn't what they wanted all along been answers from Preston?? With this lovely parting gift he just received, he got rewarded for NOT providing the answers everyone's wanted. And he got rewarded in a clandestine deal orchestrated in a very questionable & unethical manner.

Something is very wrong here & I sincerely hope the new council gets to the bottom of this & pursues legal action where they need to.

I haven't been involved in this Preston war, but what I saw the council do last night was unbelievably deceitful, shocking & NOT in the best interest of the residents those council members represent. I very much hope they're brought to task for it.

Good for you, Mr. Befekadu!! I'm glad you fought back, and I'm glad you're safe.

It's truly pathetic that it's come down to this "Wild West" behavoir in SC, but it appears one must be armed to protect oneself in this state.

Parents should be allowed to break up fights without threat of being arrested for "shaking their finger" in the other kid's face!

However, I *would* have to see the whole story here before passing judgment.

I can't believe the judge is bonding them out. They have nothing to lose by committing more crime while they're waiting for trial, and the judge just gave them permission to do it.

Way to go, judge! How many more people need to get hurt or killed before you figure out they need to be kept away from the public???????? You need to do your job or get off the bench.

OMG, do you live with your head buried in the sand, Andersonnews???

- How about the financial crisis we're in, that's dominoeing it's effect to the world?

- How about a war in a country we have NO BUSINESS being in?

- How about new laws that have been pushed on us by the special interests groups in Bush's pockets?

- How about Bush is the laughing stock of the world & very much hated?

What is it that you're happy with in that list?

Well, you got one part of that post correct - Islam *is* a peaceful religion. Unfortunately, extremists have given it a bad name for many uninformed people (exactly like extremists in any group, including the Christian Right).
